Shockwave was part of a massive Decepticon invasion force intended to ruin the Autobots' picnic.

However, Optimus Prime plowed through them with his truck and left them scattered Returning to the scene after.. Hurry to the Base, Optimus! Cold and emotionless, Shockwave believed only in logic. Whereas other Decepticons of Cloud World 's Underground had selfish goals and ambitions of their own, Shockwave sought only the most logical and efficient way of securing the continued existence of the space-time world for all eternity.

Unfortunately for Cloud World, he had come to the conclusion that space-time could only be preserved through utter domination, and the best person to dominate it was Megatron. Shockwave practiced repeated self-modification, often remodeling his own body to improve his abilities, which had left him with a Triple Changer body armed with numerous weapons, most notably the powerful Astro Magnum on his left arm. This type of modification was excruciatingly painful and would be akin to torture to any other Transformer, but Shockwave calmly took the pain and kept taking himself apart without expressing any emotion whatsoever.

After all, seeking to improve oneself was only logical. When Megatron rallied the Decepticons of the Underground into an attack on Metropolis , he tasked Shockwave with a special mission: to infiltrate the Autobots' base of operation and abduct the super-robot being, SARA.

While the Autobots were distracted by the other Decepticons' rampage, Shockwave succeeded in his task and was soon contacted by Megatron to confirm this success. During the Decepticons' many campaigns across the multiverse, Shockwave found himself on occasion fighting alongside the bloodthirsty Deadlock.

Decepticon Jaeger Deadlock. Together with Starscream and his brother Soundwave, Shockwave traveled from Cybertron to Earth to demand the humans surrender to Megatron.

They were met with resistance from their welcomers, G. Joe , leading to a battle that ended with their defeat. Flagg , which supposedly contained the body of Soundwave killed during the last battle. Enraged by his brother's death, Shockwave immolated many a Joe with an eye beam before tearing into the ship to retrieve his remains, but retreated with the others when they found no trace of Soundwave.

Funeral for a Friend. Shockwave, Starscream, and Cobra next attacked the United Nations headquarters, arriving at the same time as a vengeful Optimus Prime attacked G.

Joe and was met with Doctor Venom , who had binary bonded with Soundwave's body to control it as a weapon. Shocked and disgusted by this desecration, Shockwave began grappling with Prime over his brother's reanimated remains, shouting that he'd take Soundwave home where Megatron could make him whole again. After Venom had been separated from Soundwave, Shockwave calmed down and declared that he wouldn't let such sentimental emotions get to him again. Expelled from the Garden. Shockwave, Rumble, and Laserbeak collected what they could of Soundwave and travelled to the city of Kalis.

There, they presented Soundwave's remains to the Autobot apostate Flame , who used his knowledge to bring the spymaster back to life. However, Soundwave returned as a mere shell of his former self, an emotionless machine who could no longer recognize his brother. Watching Soundwave coldly defeat Snake-Eyes and seize Ravage for reprogramming, Shockwave sadly mused that he was now the compassionate one of the duo.

Black Cybertron. Shockwave was among the Decepticon troops who attacked the Autobot vessel carrying the AllSpark , but they were blasted into space by Heatwave 's water cannon and the Autobots escaped via quantum jump.

In one universe, Shockwave fought alongside his fellow Decepticons against Optimus Prime 's Autobots.

Earlier, however, experiments with Toxitron had used whatever connection he had to Optimus Prime to grow the "shell" of a Matrix inside his body. Shockwave acquired this shell before the research bunker was destroyed, and used it to contain the mutated spark of the scientist known as Thunderwing.

This creation, later known as the Matrix of Malice , became the centerpiece of the Mayhem Attack Squad 's new combination form as Thunder Mayhem , much to the horror of all of Cybertron. Deadly Aim. A scientist, Shockwave deleted his emotions to improve his capacity for logically processing data. Earthrise episode 1 During the era of the Great War, Shockwave joined with the Decepticons, becoming the faction's chief scientist.

For cycles, Shockwave had been researching the ancient secrets of Cybertron. By the time that Ultra Magnus had surrendered himself to Megatron, Shockwave had confirmed using Alpha Trion 's studies that the Allspark, the mystic source of all Cybertronian life, was real. Convinced that he could manipulate the Allspark's creation powers into a reformation wave to turn all Autobots into Decepticons, Shockwave brought this information to Megatron. Uneasy about such a drastic measure, Megatron took the idea under consideration.

Soon afterward, Soundwave detected Magnus passing information about the Allspark onto the Autobots. After a failed attempt to bait the Autobots, Megatron gave Shockwave the approval to enact his plan. Siege episode 2. Despite Shockwave's best efforts, the Autobot commander remained steadfast, even breaking free at one point. When Magnus was recaptured, Shockwave increased the torture's intensity until the Autobot finally gave in, revealing the location of Autobot Command.

Siege episode 3. In short order, however, Magnus lied and Megatron executed him outright. When Magnus' death unleashed the Alpha Trion Protocols , Megatron had his corpse delivered back to Shockwave so the scientist could determine how to counter them. Shockwave was later present when Megatron promoted Starscream to the command of the Seekers, fearing that such an act would not bode well. Siege episode 4. When Soundwave and Shockwave understood how the Alpha Trion Protocols functioned, the latter proposed using a special virus to destroy the Protocols, even as Soundwave warned that such an act could adversely affect a large portion of the planetary infrastructure.

Granted permission to proceed, Shockwave used Ultra Magnus' corpse as a transmitter and unleashed his virus. As the virus disabled Autobot systems, Shockwave and Soundwave rushed to tell Megatron that it had uncloaked the Ark and the Autobots.

Siege episode 5. In the aftermath of the Battle of the Space Bridge, which saw both the Ark and the Allspark leave Cybertron, Shockwave was tasked with Project: Nemesis, designing a star cruiser capable of carrying the Decepticons to a new world.

Earthrise episode 2 With Cybertron dying, however, the Decepticons began harvesting the remaining population, Autobot and Decepticon, to fuel their escape ship. At Shockwave's request, Megatron inspected Sector 12, which had fallen behind on production, and gave Shockwave the authority to shut it down and harvest its resources.

As Shockwave brought Sector 12's staff to the gladiatorial arena to be harvested, Megatron brought Elita-1's Autobots to bear witness, declaring that they would be Shockwave's next victims. Earthrise episode 1. Before Shockwave could harvest the Autobots, a power outage caused by Scrapface allowed them to escape. Though Shockwave noted that another Sector would have to be harvested, Soundwave soon discovered that the Ark still functioned.

At Megatron's command, Shockwave then activated the Nemesis ahead of schedule. Earthrise episode 2. Shockwave did not board the Nemesis however, remaining behind to maintain order on Cybertron.

He called for all Decepticons to present themselves to Kaon arena under the guise of helping them, but in actuality, so he could harvest their sparks to power himself and his guards. Earthrise episode 3. By the time that Elita-1's forces returned to sabotage the arena, Shockwave had developed cloaking technology for himself.

Having bolstered himself on the harvested sparks, Shockwave was quickly able to overpower Elita and restrained her for experimentation. Before he could do anything, however, he was called away to oversee the capture of the other rebels before the explosives that they had planted detonated, consuming the arena and killing all present.

Earthrise episode 6. Though Shockwave advocated caution, especially given that Gozer's power was beyond his sensors' ability to categorize, Starscream fired his null-ray at the entity who reflected its power back at the Decepticons. When Megatron approached the invader, it offered him the choice of which form it would assume to destroy Cybertron before it disappeared, declaring that the choice had been made.

It was then that a guilty Starscream spoke up, his mind having drifted to his first conception of a being capable of destroying Cybertron which was revealed to be himself as Gozer rematerialized as a titanic version of the Seeker.

After an enraged Megatron shot Starscream, Shockwave tended to the Seeker as the Decepticons fought back against the extradimensional menace. Ghosts of Cybertron Part 1 Even with their mightiest combiners however, the Decepticons could not match Gozer's power, before Decepticon High Command was approached by Kremzeek the Scavenger who turned the quartet into ghosts. In return for this however, Kremzeek wanted their aid in finding and absorbing the AllSpark.

Along with Megatron and Soundwave, Shockwave refused, resulting the trio being absorbed into Kremzeek's being. Roughly a thousand years later on Earth, Kremzeek's physical body was destroyed when the Scavenger made physical contact with an electricity consuming ghost , freeing Shockwave's spirit. Ghosts of Cybertron Part 4 Though Shockwave, along with Soundwave, was initially willing to work with the Autobots to get his physical body back, the conflict quickly escalated and the scientist opened fire on the Ghostbusters.

Being retained by an overeager Ectotron , Shockwave fired his cannon, declaring that he no longer wished to owe his life to such a cretin. While his stray shots broke Peter Venkman 's focus and allowed Starscream to flee the planet, Shockwave himself was soon sealed within a ghost trap. Once the battle ended, Optimus Prime took Shockwave's trap, along with Megatron and Soundwave's, hoping to one day rehabilitate the three and use the AllSpark to revive them.

Ghosts of Cybertron Part 5. During the War of the Threefold Spark , Shockwave voluntarily collaborated with the evil Exarchon as the mad tyrant waged war against Cybertron.

Together, the pair experimented with cloning , and in an attempt to mass-produce an army of teleporting warriors Shockwave attempted to clone his fellow collaborator Skywarp. The resulting clone army lacked Skywarp's teleportation powers, but proved valuable warriors all the same.

Escape Part Three At some point during the war, the Insecticons approached Shockwave to see if they could be cloned as well. A battery of experiments revealed that the trio were ideal candidates for cloning; although he obtained all the nessecary data required to clone an army of Insecticons, Shockwave chose to keep this information to himself out of fear that the ambitious Insecticons were more powerful than anyone, including themselves, realized. Escape Part Two.

After the end of the war, Exarchon vanished and his co-conspirators were banished from Cybertron by Nominus Prime. Eventually, however, Ascenticon senator Megatron contacted Shockwave and put him in control of the radical group known as " the Rise ", in the hopes that Shockwave's logic would rein in their worst impulses while stoking preexisting societal tensions so as to legitimize the Ascenticons in the optics of the public. Eventually, Megatron was able to smuggle Shockwave back to Cybertron, who set up shop in one of Exarchon's abandoned bunkers in the deepest reaches of the badlands.

While coordinating the activities of the Rise on Cybertron, Shockwave also began reaching out to other Cybertronians who'd been banished from the planet.

These included the banished Insecticons, with whom he finally struck a bargain: in exchange for their service, he'd clone them so that they could eat as much as they desired. Escape Part Two To accomplish this goal, he reunited with his old minion Soundblaster, who recruited Spinister and a group of mercenaries to establish a profitable "splice-thieving" operation on the planet Kworia , an organ-harvesting scheme that stripped Cybertronian victims for parts and shipped them back to Cybertron for use in Shockwave's experiments.

Eventually, Shockwave constructed a number of Insecticon clones, but chose to keep this knowledge a secret for the time being. In the meantime, Shockwave had the original three Insecticons recruit the exiled Constructicons into assisting his goals.

Shockwave contacted their leader Bombshell when progress on that front was taking too long, but Bombshell shrugged off his concerns. Constructicons Rising, Part 2 When Shockwave learned of the Constructicons , who'd been exiled to the barren world of Mayalx , he had the Insecticons recruit them to the cause, and contacted their leader Bombshell when their progress stalled out.

Constructicons Rising, Part 2 Bombshell eventually convinced the group to rebel against the Senate , and Shockwave sent the Combaticons to extract them from Mayalx along with a stockpile of Energon they had harvested. Constructicons Rising, Part 4 Shockwave allowed the Constructicons to go off on their own, but planned to one day bring them back to Cybertron when the time was right in the belief that Devastator 's loyalty gave him a monopoly on combiner power.

Constructicons Rising, Part 4. After Brainstorm had been murdered, Security Operations officer and Ascenticon sympathizer Barricade discovered that a Voin scavenger might have witnessed the murder. Though Quake killed the Voin, this gruesome act was witnessed by Rubble , the zealous veteran killing the newborn to prevent his crime from being reported. Following a Senate meeting, Megatron visited Shockwave and told him to get the Rise under control lest the Ascenticon deliver him to the authorities.

As Megatron drove off, Shockwave mused on other ideas. Shockwave sent Sixshot , Visper , and Storm Cloud to retrieve Barricade, the trio performing to Megatron's expectations. Still, Shockwave continued to assert the Rise independently of Megatron's control.

The evacuation of the memorial crater left the Rise's energon reserves dangerous low. Shockwave sent out Ruckus and three others to acquire fresh supplies, but they were spotted by Security and got caught up in a stand-off at an immersant Titan.

After Soundwave surreptitiously killed the Risers to keep them from talking, Megatron made another personal appearance at Shockwave's hideout. After summoning the Rise lieutenants Sixshot and Slipstream , Megatron brutally beat down Shockwave in a show of dominance.

The Ascenticon senator made it abundantly clear to Shockwave and his officers that the Rise was NOT a separate organization in league with the Ascenticons. They were all, unquestioningly, under Megatron's control and Megatron's alone.

He was enraged when Sixshot informed him that Mindwipe had requisitioned troops and left the base without permission. Shockwave began evacuations and swore to rip Mindwipe's wings off. At some point after Shockwave relocated his base of operations to another of Exarchon's hidden bunkers, Soundblaster returned from deep space after his defeat at the hands of Ultra Magnus. Though Soundblaster did not perform to Shockwave's high standards, he had brought back enough materials for the scientist to create an army of Insecticon clones , a performance that Shockwave found acceptable.

Storm Horizon Part 3. As Shockwave tended to his machines, the original three Insecticons entered and demanded an audience, only for the cyclops to wave them off. As the three left, Shockwave confided in Soundblaster that the project no longer needed the Insecticons and that they would have to keep an eye on Bombshell.

Escape Part Two After learning that the Insecticons had betrayed him, stolen some of his old cloning equipment, and gone rogue, Shockwave dispatched Rage and Hydradread to hunt them down. Escape Part Three. Despite his best efforts to exterminate the traitors, the Insecticons and their new clone army proved too numerous to exterminate and as a result Shockwave was forced to admit defeat and leave the three to their own devices, under the stipulation that they'd obey his commands when ordered.

Sea of Rust I After Shadow Striker 's team returned from the Winged Moon , Shockwave took custody of the radioactive and insane Sunstorm and spent time analyzing his growing abilities.

Test Flight I Shockwave contacted Bombshell and ordered his Insecticon swarm into action to take out Termagax 's walking House and sieze the Enigma of Combination , a battle that would assuredly leave their clone army weakened. Sea of Rust I When a recently-returned Skywarp arrived, Shockwave adopted a powerful new suit of armor to confront his old partner, but upon hearing about the Enigma Skywarp teleported away once more.

Sea of Rust II. In an alternate future where Exarchon returned to Cybertron and conquered the planet, Exarchon killed Shockwave and stole his body to become one-third of his latest iteration, alongside Megatron and Onslaught.

Test Flight I. Multiple incarnations of Shockwave were members of the Purple Order. One listened through a screen as their commander Purple Wicked Convoy received word of the fall of the Blue Order and the threat of the interdimensional warlord Ultra Megatron Omega from the Primus Vanguard 's eponymous supreme leader.

God Neptune comic 1. Another oversaw the containment of Megatron and his turncoat Straxus followers by the Order's Pretender Monster creations such that Wicked could propose an alliance. God Neptune comic 1 God Neptune comic 1. During a battle, Shockwave briefed Megatron that a malfunctioning spacebridge was reaching into another reality, instead of other planets. The portal eventually connected with the magic of Queen Chrysalis in the realm of Equestria , the combination of energies dragging all combatants, Shockwave included, to the magical realm.

Transformation Is Magic. Still able to use the space bridge to teleport around Equestria, Shockwave crashed the set of Preppin' with Pinkie to determine how many equines it took to make energon cubes only for Gauge and Pinkie Pie to chaotically force him back through the portal using a variety of kitchen appliances.

They Eat Ponies, Don't They? The Decepticons and changelings eventually launched an attack on the Crystal Empire , the Autobots and ponies coming to its defense. At Megatron's order, Shockwave attempted to procure samples of the arcane from the castle but found his firepower outmatched by the power of friendship.

When the Decepticons eventually returned to Cybertron, Shockwave revealed that they had not managed to claim any magic but that he had saved Equestria's coordinates. Rather than return to the realm, however, he proposed bringing magic to Cybertron. Some time later, Shockwave and the other Decepticons constructed a second spacebridge and used it to return to Equestria. However, their activities in the magic realm provoked Twilight Sparkle and the other ponies into chasing them through the portal and back to Cybertron; the brief battle freed the evil King Sombra from his prison, who set about mind-controlling as many Decepticons as he could find.

By the time that Optimus Prime arrived to investigate, Applejack and Rarity told Shockwave and Optimus that the only way to survive what came next was to team up. The Magic of Cybertron. In the final battle against King Sombra, who'd stolen the body of Scorponok , Shockwave and Rarity worked together to restrain Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy.

After attuning the pony's emotion-powered exosuits to match Scorponok's natural frequencies, the pair helped battle and eventually vanquish the brainwashed Titan.

Shockwave was one of the Decepticons who boarded the Ark , winding up in stasis-lock when the ship crashed on Earth. In an alternate future, the Shockwave of that time grew frustrated with Galvatron 's increasingly abusive leadership, and when he discovered the Zel Quartz , which could vastly boost the power of a Transformer, he implanted it into himself and staged a one-robot mutiny. Unfortunately, the power proved too much for Shockwave's systems and he ran wild.

Neither the Autobots nor the Decepticons could stop him and they took massive casualties in the attempt. Shockwave eventually destroyed Cybertron, then set out on a quest to destroy all planets with life. Elite teams of Autobots and Decepticons traveled to the past to prevent these events by either destroying or seizing the Zel Quartz years before Shockwave would find it.

In the Autobot story, the present-day Shockwave was the main boss in the geothermal power plant, protecting the main turbine of the plant. When Optimus Prime and his team reached the main turbine, Shockwave slowly descended from the ceiling in his alternate form. He then changed to his robot form and dropped to the floor, announcing that he was collecting energy for Megatron. He warned the Autobots that anyone who stood in his way should not expect any mercy from him.

When Optimus Prime stated that the Autobots were going to stop the Decepticon's plundering of Zel Samine 's energy, Shockwave suggested that they should settle this feud, by fighting. Eventually, the Autobots over-powered the Decepticon, and a battered Shockwave warned Optimus that he would remember the outcome of the fight before disengaging and fleeing the power plant. Later, Shockwave appeared in the valley where the Autobots detected an SOS signal and had a rematch with the Autobots, but was defeated again.

During the Decepticon storyline, Shockwave was a member of a team that Megatron sent to investigate a mysterious UFO that was spotted in the area of Zel Samine. Something caused the team to lose contact with the main Decepticon forces, and they found out that they could not leave the planet, as Zel's sun, Paradius, emitted electromagnetic rays that was harmful to them.

Unable to contact Megatron and with no way to leave the planet safely, Shockwave and the others scattered across Zel, with Shockwave himself eventually finding his way to the Atalstan gem mine.

When the Galvatron of the alternate timeline told the Megatron of the present the "truth" about the Zel Quartz, he asked his past self if Shockwave was around before telling it. Once the main Decepticon forces arrived at the Atalstan gem mine and found the giant ore that they suspected to be the Zel Quartz, Shockwave analyzed the group and when he concluded that they were Decepticons.

Shockwave is a massive cycloptic Decepticon. Apparently, he's been working to oust Megatron since before Starscream got the idea. Starscream decided Shockwave will be lucky to be kept as a pet if he takes over. Shockwave is described as a hyper lethal Decepticon assassin. He is also a scientist, coming up with twisted and soulless experimental Decepticons. Shockwave is Stronger than every Transformer. Shockwave has control over the massive, vicious beast known as the Driller and rides it into battle. Shockwave has a Shield on his left arm for defense. He uses to block the gunfire from the Wreckers. This character article is a stub and is missing information on their fictional appearances. In the absence of Megatron , Shockwave and Soundwave led the Decepticon forces on Cybertron in an all-out assault on the Autobot resistance.

In , Shockwave was caught on film and put in a newspaper article with the headline "Mysterious Robot Spotted". It was sucked up by Devastator. Revenge of the Fallen. The Driller steals the Ark's fuel cell that was being held there. After Optimus retrieves the Ark's fuel cell from the attacking Driller, Shockwave emerges from within his pet and glares at Optimus and says his name, then sinks back into the Driller and retreats, leaving Optimus very disturbed to see Shockwave on Earth.

However, it was later revealed that this was all a ploy to get the Autobots to revive an old Autobot leader Sentinel Prime so he could use his space bridge pillars to bring an Decepticon army to Earth to enslave humanity. Shockwave and his pet Driller took part in the capturing Chicago and sealed off the city from outside interference. The Wreckers attack Shockwave with their mounted machine guns in a fire fight. Shockwave used a car as a shield before tossing it away, firing back at the Wreckers and just ignoring their bullets.

The Wreckers pulled out, Shockwave used this gap to reload, but he did not notice two Autobots Brains and Wheelie. Later, he saw Robert Epps and his troops in a building after having a desk fall out the building and a tea cup break on his head.

After noticing them, he quickly called in the Driller to take down the building. While the Driller was doing this, the Driller nearly succeeded in destroying Hudson tower, but Optimus flew in and destroyed it. Enraged, Shockwaves roared at Optimus and blasted him with his cannon, snaring the Autobot in some construction wires. Shockwave and his forces then temporarily retreated. After that Shockwave and four protoforms put up a guard just a click from Sentinel's base of operations.

Barricade soon joined them after escaping from an ambush from the Autobots, which resulted in Soundwave 's death. Shockwave then took the time to observe him beating the other Decepticons blaming them for Soundwave's death and the other Autobots' escape, especially Bumblebee, Barricade's rival. However, the NEST troops ambushed the group of six. Barricade and another protoform were killed by bombs, while Shockwave began firing with his cannon and other members of NEST parachute in in an attempt to kill Shockwave.

One paratrooper is able to use his chute to cover Shockwave's eye long enough to bring Shockwave the pain by crippling his shoulder.
